
Mathilde Koechlin is a Swiss composer/music editor, pianist and multi-instrumentalist based in London. She's working across film, television, video games and commercials. Her scores blend a traditional orchestral palette with more modern instruments, often using her own voice and instrumental skills to add an organic touch. She likes working in a minimalistic approach, following the idea that less is more.
She's now working on the Channel 4 series A Woman Of Substance writing additional music, as well as lead music editor on Rivals season 2.
Her recent projects include the ITV feature documentary Brianna : A Mother's Story, short fiction Skate, or Sagebrush Gold, winner of the RTS Award for Best Postgraduate Environment and Sunstainability Documentary 2023 and the Newcomer Prize at the NaturVision Film Festival 2022, as well as nominated for a BAFTA Student Awards 2022. Some other works include True Haunting, a Netflix short series for which she wrote additional music and VIRILE, a short fiction thriller selected at the HollyShorts 2023.
Since 2022 she has also been working as a music editor and assistant for composers Federico Jusid on The Night Manager Season 2, Jack Halama on Who Is Erin Carter and Rivals Season 2, Jon Opstad on Bodies and The Veil, Arthur Sharpe on the short series Prime Target, and Adiescar Chase on Waterloo Road and Heartstopper.
Mathilde attended the London College of Creative Media, where she polished her knowledge of jazz piano, composition and producing techniques, graduating with excellent marks. She then got offered a place at the NFTS - the world-renowned National Film & Television School, where she scored many documentary, fiction and animation films, as well as TV Shows and video games. She completed a MA in Composition for Film and Television, graduating in early 2022 and is now giving regular workshops there to the new composing students.
